Welcome Back

Bizarre isn’t it?

It’s the 22nd January and I’m only just getting to write some posts here!

We’ve got lots to catch up on though, so let’s get on with it.

Welcome back to Take A Bite in 07, and a belated set of "Happy New Year"s to you all.

While Pink Apple is back from a break, my back is still braced up and can still only tolerate so much sitting at the computer.  Three days of work sesm to be it’s limit still.  The last few week’s, Thursday and Fridays have found me lying on my bed with a book because the back’s just run out of oomph!

But still, that’s better than it was so let’s be grateful for small gains!

Even though Karen Wallace had officially put SOXS to bed, one of the things I HAD to write about was my own very personal experience of putting my own advice (and heaps of Karen’s support and advice) to work on getting through Christmas.

With the whole "back thing" happening in November and December, I was getting seriously worried as Christmas crept closer and I was STILL unable to do anything about it.

The overall story was a positive one, until I definitely lost it on Christmas Day.  My Sanity – that is!
So I’ve opened up the closed-up SOXS blog to write the story.

So start with Why Chris NEEDED SOXS for Christmas 06,

After all, Karen and I conceived and wrote SOXS to get ME over my bah-humbug attitudes to Christmas.
Yes I know that sounds incongruous to have written a book for you, to help ME deal with my problem, but we knew my problem encapsulated quite a FEW people’s difficulties with Christmas!

Then check out Pt 2 of The December Saga

… those of you who read reviews of SOXS thought it was just a pile of lists and some "maybe-helpful" advice from two women who may/may not have been experts.  That’s where SOME people seriously underestimate SOXS.
You see when you open SOXS, and before you ever find a list or a tip, you’re confronted with some questions that really challenge you to understand what it is you find so difficult and identify how you want it to be different.   There’s some serious laser-coaching-in-a-book there!  And just like all lasers it gets to the heart of the matter!
As I found out – when I sat and answered my own and Karen’s questions.
I was like a worm on a bait-hook squirming uncomfortably, but knowing that I was actually getting to the nub of the problems.  I had a bit of a cry over my chardy, but felt kind of relieved and released.

And then the true, and a little ugly, confessions of The BIG Day – Christmas Pt 3.

In the kitchen, I was not so merrily and somewhat stressedly (is there such a word), preparing the meat marinades.
Following the blithe instructions of a TV cook I’d seen a few days earlier, I was "popping" the boned legs of lamb in individual plastic seal-top bags along with their red wine, garlic, fresh herbs, extra virgin oil etc marinade.
While I sealed one, the other slowly sank flat and the marinade ebbed out of the bag.

My intention for this blog this year is to write more, MUCH more!

Over these next two weeks, I’m reviewing Pink Apple and my intentions for 07, and setting up my actions to give myself a good solid butt-kick and get on with it.

You’ll hear more as we go!
