Getting It Together
Over at Thoughts and Philosophies, Carolyn Manning has decided to offer a mini-virtual-conference for those of us who can’t make it to Chicago for SOBCon 07 which starts on Friday! (You might remember I had a bleat about not being able to go, a while back.)
Yeah! Sounds daunting heh? And HOW do you attend a virtual conference?
Well in this case it’s dead easy! All you have to do is open up Thoughts and Philosophies at the appointed hour, read the blog post that is that "speaker’s presentation" and just stay there reading the real-time comments of other participants and the speaker as they come in. Of course you have your say as well just by adding comments at the bottom of the blog.
Hitting the Refresh button is as hard as it gets! You need no more technology (or effort) than you’ve got right now as you sit here reading this!
The theme for the conference is Getting It Together. Yeah it kind of hit me too. Very appropriate!
There are two parts to the conference to fit different time zone needs. For those of my readers in the Northern hemisphere, the Western sessions may fit best as they run from noon-6pm EDT in the US on Friday 11th May. (Check WorldClock to do your conversions.)
The Eastern sessions run from 10pm – 4am EDT (WorldClock) Friday/Saturday 11/12th May. These are the ones that fit best for the Aussie audience as those times are actually Midday Saturday 12th May AEDT until 6pm Saturday. Seeing as I’m one of the "speakers" (I’m last at 5-6pm Saturday) I’d love to see some of my readers bobbing up in the sessions!
The first session on Saturday starts with my pal Leah MacLean talking about "siesta time (optimum productivity needs regular R&R)"
Pink Apple is talking about
"dismissing the junk, if it doesn’t pay the rent (if it doesn’t give pleasure, or is redundant and meaningless) don’t bother with it."
All the details and the rest of the speakers can be found here.
Ah heck, go read all the stuff over at Thoughts and Philosophies but in case you haven’t got time, here’s the list.
