Wow, this brings back a memory of my 16th birthday party and being kissed by a boy I was madly in love with – he was older, maybe 18 and his nickname was “Hairy”. The big pash came and he stuck his tongue down my throat and I nearly threw up!!
Now I have been kissing the same bloke for 23 years and like it very much.

The thing I remember most about my first kiss at 14 was his bodies reaction and feeling very smug and powerful!

Ah Angela, I do believe you were there a lot younger than me!!
And ahh yes,the taste of cigarettes. Yarrk!!
I hope New Years Eve pash’s count cos that was my last public one too!!
It’s interesting you raise the issue of kissing lapsing a lot during the kid-raising stages. I think you’re right but I wonder if our younger colleagues are finding that?

My first kiss was just awful! At the age of 13 I went along to a poorly-attended church youth group dance. And in that darkened room, some sweaty young boy kissed me, and I let him. I don’t recall any conversation before or after, and he tasted of cigarettes. At the time I thought I was so cool, but still didn’t enjoy it. I remember thinking “is that it??”

Anyway, things have improved a lot since then I’m happy to say. It was only 6 years later that I married (wow!) and I’m still happily kissing the same man. Our last public pash was New Years Eve. Does that count?

I have to admit we kiss more now than during our kid-raising phase. You get so caught up in that, don’t you? Thankfully we’ve both recognised the importance of keeping the relationship alive beyond the children.
